Our House Captains
Our Wittersham House Captains are an essential part of our pupil leadership team. They are elected through a democratic vote, which takes place in early September each year. Our year six children are invited to nominate and run for election. As part of the process, candidates present the school with a proposed manifesto and speech, outlining how they will contribute towards our whole school development and meet the expectations of the role. The school community then cast their votes to decide who will represent them and their house team for the coming academic year.
Key responsibilities for our house captains include: working with staff to arrange inter-house events and competitions throughout the year, collecting weekly totals of house points and presenting these within our celebration worship, acting as a positive role model and ensuring all children are active and happy at lunchtimes.
Our four houses take the names of local castles; Bodiam, Hever, Leeds and Scotney. Children can earn points for their teams through their embodiment of our Christian Values, through going the 'extra-mile' for their peers and in competitions organised by the house captains. At the end of each full term, the house with the greatest number of points is rewarded with a prize. This is chosen by the house and its pupils. Possible rewards include a non-school uniform day, a party or additional break time.
