Welcome

On behalf of everyone at Wittersham Church of England Primary School, I warmly welcome you to our website. We take great pride in our wonderful rural school and all the pupils who join our Wittersham family.

As a proud Church School, our Christian vision guides our decisions and actions. This vision inspires our staff and school community to ensure children feel valued, empowered, and nurtured, fostering a strong moral purpose grounded in our Christian values of respect, kindness, perseverance, forgiveness, and love.

At Wittersham, each child is treated as an individual, encouraged to develop an inquisitive mind, a thirst for challenge, and a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude. Our dedicated staff and governors continuously strive for high standards and excellent progress, placing each child at the heart of what we do. We maintain high expectations for learning and behaviour, and our wide range of extracurricular and enrichment programmes demonstrate our commitment to supporting each child's personal development. We aspire to equip our learning community with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to inspire a lifelong love of learning.

In 2017, Wittersham was proudly judged as ‘Outstanding’ in its Church inspection (SIAMS), which celebrated the school’s strong Christian ethos and values. Ofsted most recently rated us as ‘Good,’ with the inspector noting: “This is a happy and welcoming school. Christian values and a strong sense of community lie at the heart of this village school. Staff have caring relationships with pupils and know their families well. Pupils respond positively to leaders’ high expectations. Pupils want to do well, and they learn to persevere and not give up. They thrive within this trusting and harmonious environment” (HMI January 2020).

Our school is situated between Tenterden and Rye, nestled in an area of outstanding natural beauty near the church. We serve a diverse range of rural areas, with many families choosing to travel to secure a place in our wonderful school. Our unique rural location plays a key role in the broad Wittersham curriculum, enhancing children’s holistic development at every opportunity.

We strongly believe that parents are partners in their children’s growth, and alongside our talented and committed staff, we work together as a school family to nurture, empower, and support the success of every child.

If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to visit our school or would like to learn more, please do contact us – we would be delighted to welcome you and show you around.
